Lessons must be learned by the unacceptable scenes in the Oliver Bond housing complex – Ardagh

Fianna Fail Senator for Dublin South Central Catherine Ardagh has called on An Garda Siochana to put a policing plan in place all over Dublin so the scenes in the Oliver Bond housing complex are not replicated.

Senator Ardagh said: “The scenes in the Oliver Bond Complex at the weekend are completely at odds with the sacrifices many of us have made over the last number of months. People have made huge personal sacrifices in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

“I have written to the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris asking that he publish a policing plan for the remainder of the restrictions so that the scenes over the weekend are not replicated”

“Local residents in Oliver Bond were extremely worried to leave their homes and contacted Gardai at 7pm and the delayed response has left many residents angry and rightly so.”

“People coming in from outside the area terrorising and leaving residents prisoners in their own homes is completely unacceptable and measures should be put in place so that the scenes the weekend were a one off,” concluded Senator Ardagh.
