Senator Mary Fitzpatrick, Chair of the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party Dublin subcommittee, today launched a public sentiment survey on crime and anti-social behaviour with her Dublin Parliamentary Party colleagues at Leinster House.
Following the launch, Senator Fitzpatrick said, “Anti-social behaviour threatens and undermines the fabric of our communities. As policy makers we must bring forward effective responses and it is critical that those policies are informed by the voices of people who have experienced these issues first-hand.
“We often hear media reports of random, violent, physical and gratuitous attacks but unfortunately far too many people are experiencing them in real life. Such attacks are experienced in our public spaces, on public transportation, in public parks, on our streets and outside of people's homes.
“Earlier today, my colleagues and I launched an anti-social behaviour survey for the public to share their experiences, to voice their concerns and to enable Fianna Fáil to gather valuable data to help inform effective policy to combat these issues. I encourage everyone affected by such behaviour to take two minutes to complete the questionnaire and have their say on how best we can make our communities safer.
“High visibility policing is at the core of building stronger, safer communities. For this to be achieved, Government must ensure there are adequate numbers of Gardaí on the ground to respond to issues when they arise and further resource our Community Gardaí who provide an invaluable service in every community around the country.”
