Fianna Fáil TD for Sligo/Leitrim/South Donegal, Eamon Scanlon has received an update on a community centre for Ballymoate Park.

Deputy Scanlon has been informed by Minister Dara Calleary that he has signed a letter this week for the project to go to tender.

Speaking on the matter, Deputy Scanlon expressed his delight.

“I am absolutely delighted to have been informed by Minister Dara Calleary that he has signed off on the project for a community centre for Ballymote Park to go to tender.

He added: “A community centre will bring vibrancy to the area, social inclusion, support for youth and families and supports for the local community, and it will be great use to locals to the area and beyond.

The community centre is part of a wider project taking place there that could see over €3m invested in the park.

Concluding Scanlon went on to thank the Minister and the local committee for their hard work on this and said he looks forward to a contractor being assigned the project in the near future.

“I would like to thank Minister Dara Calleary for signing this contract off for tender this week. I hope that it is a swift process and a contractor can be assigned to the project as soon as it is feasible.

“Finally, I would like to pay tribute to the outstanding work the Ballymote Park and Development Committee has done to enhance the park. Their commitment is an inspiration to us all, and I look forward to them being rewarded with their community centre in the near future,” he concluded.
