Army should be called on to support mandatory hotel quarantine – O’Loughlin

Fianna Fáil Senator, Fiona O’Loughlin, is calling for the army to be involved in the rollout of mandatory hotel quarantine.

Senator O’Loughlin commented, “Since the beginning of the pandemic our Defence Forces have supported the national effort.

“They are a well-resourced group who have stood up to the plate whether it was through the delivery of PPE, facilitating COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, and recently supporting the vaccine rollout.

“With the introduction of mandatory hotel quarantine our army could provide extra support to enhance the operations of hotel quarantine. Our Defence Forces could provide logistical support including transportation from airport to designated hotel, supporting monitoring and surveillance during quarantine.

“I would like to thank our Defence Forces for all their hard work and their continued support in battling COVID-19” concluded the Kildare Senator.
