Our Message

  • For decades now, our agriculture sector has been delivering for Ireland.

  • A key component of our modern economy, it is the heartbeat of every corner of Ireland, supporting 160,000 jobs.

  •  Fianna Fáil is conscious of the pressures that farmers are facing when it comes to fuel costs. Therefore, the Fuel Income Support Scheme for farmers and agricultural contractors and related horticulture and fisheries schemes are being extended to cover a further five-month period this year at a cost of €31.2 million.

Key Measures

  • €31 million for a new Fertiliser Scheme to be launched in 2026 to support farmers in responding to higher fertiliser costs.

  • An additional €20 million for the fisheries sector to implement the recommendations of the Berkery Report.

  • A €4 million increase for the Straw Incorporation Measure, to support the tillage sector and the environment (supports for the tillage sector totalling €54 million in 2027).

  • An extra €21.6 million for Water Quality and Biodiversity European Innovation Partnerships, essential for retaining our Nitrates Derogation.

  • An increase the farmer’s flat rate payment for VAT from 4.5% to 4.8%, from 1st January 2027.

  • €22 million euro for the National Sheep Welfare Scheme.

  • The extension of the Accelerated Capital Allowances (ACA) scheme for farm safety equipment to the end of 2029.

  • Increase in the tax credit for registered farm partnerships from €5,000 to €10,000 (available for up to 5 years). In addition, the minimum three-year holding period before which assets can be transferred under the scheme's rules is being removed for applications made to enter a Succession Farm Partnership on or after 1 January 2027.

  • A reduction in the VAT rate for non-oral respiratory vaccines to 9% from 1st January 2027.

  • Allocation of €280 million for ACRES, with €170 million of the funding allocated from carbon tax income.

  • An increased allocation for TAMS to €93.35 million, the largest ever annual budget allocation in on-farm investment by Government. This will support competitiveness on Irish farms, generational renewal, and crucially, will fund slurry storage that will be a critical component in supporting Ireland’s Nitrates Derogation.

  • For bTB reactors, an increase on the existing On-Farm Market Valuation ceilings by €500 for all categories reactors valued, commencing from 6th October 2026.

  •  Total funding of €98.9 million for Animal Health and Welfare measures.

  • Allocation of €93 million for the forestry sector to support the forestry programme and the Reconstitution Scheme developed in response to the impacts of Storm Eowyn, Ash Dieback among other various supports.
