Fianna Fáil Cllr Gary Wyse has welcomed today’s announcement that 100 new jobs will be created by IT firm FeedHenry in Waterford.
Cllr Wyse commented: “Today’s announcement that 100 jobs will be created in Waterford is very welcome news and comes on the back of the Glanbia expansion in Belview Port which could lead to 2,000 jobs.
“The investment by IT firm, FeedHenry, of €7 million is significant and highlights the benefit of WIT in the local economy with the range and quality of IT courses on offer there.
“Cloud Computing is something that has the potential to create thousands of jobs in Ireland and WIT in partnership with companies like FeedHenry can be at the forefront of this.
“The jobs announcements this week by Glanbia and FeedHenry will provide a much needed boost for Waterford and the South East. It shows that Waterford has something to offer in terms of location for many types of industries and with highly skilled graduates coming from WIT, I would encourage any potential employers to consider Waterford as an area to set-up business.
“Waterford has been designated as a gateway city under the National Spatial Strategy but it has largely been ignored by this Government for investment. However, with a bit more help and more IDA support, it has the potential to be a key driver of Ireland’s economic recovery.”
