Fianna Fáil Councillor in Dublin West Jack Chambers has called on the Minister for Health Leo Varadkar to end his silence and take a firm grip of the deepening crisis in the health service.
Cllr. Chambers commented, “Minister Varadkar has disappeared when his community and country need urgent action and leadership in the grip of a national overcrowding crisis. More than 600 people, the highest since records began, are being treated on trolleys in Emergency Departments in hospitals across the country.
“Nurses, doctors and healthcare workers need support and intervention that supersedes the HSE’s attempts to spin its way out of this growing crisis.
“Minister Varadkar in a recent Dáil speech proclaimed that he is a conviction driven politician but his recent inaction and silence as Minister truly questions this monologue. Earlier today, Minister Bruton stated that he had “no comment” to make when asked about the Health Minister’s disappearance.
“Minister Varadkar has provided courageous commentary about everything and anything in recent times and it is time he matched his own rhetoric with action”.
