Vodafone should remove mast from college roof – Hanafin
Fianna Fáil candidate for Dún Laoghaire Cllr Mary Hanafin is calling on a local college to remove a Vodafone mast it placed on its roof.
“Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council gave planning permission for a Vodafone Mast on the top of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) with the beam down on Monkstown Educate Together NS. This is, understandably causing grave concern for parents.
“As Minister for Education I worked very hard to secure this site for the new building for Monkstown Educate Together and it is outrageous that permission would be given for a mast, on site, directly beside young children.
“I attended a large meeting of parents last week who are organising their opposition and an appeal to An Bord Pleanála which I am happy to support. I also call on the Board of IADT to withdraw their permission to Vodafone to place the mast on their roof. The schools and college share the same facilities and it is high handed of the college to act unilaterally in this way.”
