Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Robert Troy, has received assurances from the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation that businesses can continue to trade online as long as they are confident in their ability to comply with the public health guidelines.

Deputy Troy was contacted by numerous business owners who have had to close their doors and asked if they could continue with online sales and dispatch deliveries to people’s homes.

He explained, “Following representations, I was informed by the Department that businesses can trade online as long as they ensure that all ordering and administrative functions are completed through home working, and that only the absolute minimum levels of staffing are involved with physical distancing rigorously implemented.

“There is an opportunity here for businesses to continue trading or those who want to migrate to trading online to do so. I would encourage those who have not already done so to avail of the trading online voucher scheme which is available from their Local Enterprise Office (LEO)

“The scheme is designed to assist small businesses by giving training and advice along with financial assistance of up to €2,500 to help businesses to trade online.

“It’s important that businesses are aware of this opportunity and the fact that they can still trade online should they be in a position to do so,” he concluded.
