Fianna Fáil South Dublin County Councillor and Dublin South West General Election candidate, Charlie O’Connor has said the development of an Enterprise Innovation and Technology Centre to support local SME owners in South Dublin cannot be understated.
Cllr O’Connor raised the matter with the Local Authority’s Chief Executive this week and received confirmation that the tender for the new Innovation Centre was issued earlier this month on January 14th and will close in 3 weeks’ time. It is expected that an appointment for the design of the centre will be made before this summer with construction potentially commencing by 2020.
Speaking afterwards he said, “Providing locally based SMEs the capabilities and facilities to achieve both growth and profit is essential and should be driven by the Local Authority. By developing a haven where innovation and entrepreneurial spirit are nurtured, we are enabling a brighter future in Tallaght and maybe even beyond.
“I am pleased that our Local Authority has recognised the importance of constructing a new Innovation Centre. As we face into uncertain territory post Brexit, promoting indigenous business is crucial. We need to be proactive and push for this project to be completed as soon as is possible,” he concluded.
