Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP, Chairperson of the European Parliament delegation which deals with political relations with Norway, has extended his condolences to the people of Norway following the horrific attacks in Utoya Island and Oslo city centre.

Mr Gallagher has today spoken to his counterpart Ine Erikson Soreide MP, Chair of the Norway delegation, to extend his deepest sympathies to the Norway mission to the EU at this difficult time.

Pat the Cope Gallagher said: “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the people who were so brutally killed and injured in Utoya and Oslo yesterday. The attacks that took place on Utoeya Island happened at a political gathering of young people who both cherished and promoted democracy – a value that we all must seek to protect at all times.”
