It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of my colleague Frank Barrett.  My sympathy and that of the party goes out to his wife Gabrielle and their children.

Frank was a committed lifelong member of the Fianna Fáil party and a dedicated community activist.  He was a constituency delegate to our National Executive for many years, a duty he took very seriously, always making his contributions with great passion and integrity.  He was committed to the renewal of our party and would, I am certain, have played a key role in this renewal in his native Galway.

Frank Barrett was an example of all that is best about the membership of Fianna Fáil.  His dedication to family, community and country was absolute and an example to all his colleagues and friends.
