Fianna Fáil Leader, Micheál Martin has expressed his sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives last night, or who were injured, during last night’s terror attack in London.
“This was a callous attack on people who were simply enjoying life.
“Fianna Fáil stands with the people of London. London has withstood attacks of this nature before, and it became stronger as a result. Last night’s attack will, I have no doubt, bring Londoners of all creeds, races, and ethnicities, even more together and will make the city even stronger.
“London is home is millions, many of whom who are Irish or of Irish descent. We know from our own past that the best response to terror is to be open, tolerant and to stand united.
“In times of terror, the automatic response is to flee. However, last night, we saw the dedication of countless first responders who, instead of running away from danger, ran straight towards it to help their fellow citizens.
“Those who orchestrated this attack and the previous attack in Manchester are cowards. The people of London have, in the few short hours since last night’s attack, shown the world what true courage and bravery is.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving now, or who are concerned for their loved ones. I have passed on my sympathies and the sympathies of the Fianna Fáil party to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan,” concluded Martin.
