Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has paid tribute to the late Supreme Court Judge Mr Justice Adrian Hardiman following his untimely passing.

Deputy Martin commented, “I was very saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Mr Justice Adrian Hardiman this morning. Adrian was a hugely respected judge, known for his great intellect and wit, and was one of the outstanding lawyers of his generation. He has been a highly distinguished member of the Supreme Court since his appointment in February 2001, having being appointed directly from the Bar.

“I always found Adrian to be extremely kind, generous and good natured. He had a keen interest in politics and public life and ran for Fianna Fáil in the local elections in Dún Laoghaire in 1985. He later went on to become a founding member of the Progressive Democrats. He was a keen student of history and culture and a strong advocate of the Irish language.

“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to Adrian’s wife Yvonne, his three sons and wider network of family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
