Deputy Kirk says Garda Golden paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving the people of Ireland and expressed his deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Deputy Kirk commented, “This appalling shooting incident in Omeath is a sharp reminder to the dangers faced by members of An Garda Siochána on a daily basis. Garda Golden was responding to an emergency call when he was tragically killed in the line of duty. I send my sincerest condolences to Garda Golden’s family, friends and wide network of colleagues in An Garda Siochána.
“The entire community in the Cooley Peninsula is deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic incident. This is the second time a member of An Garda Siochána has been killed in the line of duty in Louth in just over three years. It is a grim reminder of the dangers that members of the force face on a daily basis while protecting and serving their communities. We owe a great debt of gratitude to them, and we must now do all we can to support them in their time of need.”
