Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Arts & Heritage Niamh Smyth has congratulated Irish author Sebastian Barry on winning the Costa Book of the Year for his novel Days Without End.

Deputy Smyth said, “This is a wonderful achievement for Sebastian Barry and is a telling reflection of the level of talent in Ireland.  His command and flair of the written word brings readers on a journey in which they experience a myriad of emotions and an intense attachment to his characters.
