Malcolm grew up and was educated in Gorey and is a graduate in law and in arbitration from UCD. He is currently completing a Doctorate in Governance at Queen’s University Belfast. He works as Head of Communications with the Higher Education Authority. He has previously worked with Chambers Ireland, as Commercial Manager with myhome.ie and as Chief Executive of Community Games. A former Vice-President of the National Youth Council of Ireland and Education Officer with the Union of Students in Ireland, he has a long involvement with local youth and arts groups, including Gorey Little Theatre Group, Gorey Musical Society, Gorey Youth Needs and Gorey School of Art. He is a member of the Boards of Management of Gaelscoil Mhosiolog Ghuaire; Creagh College, Gorey and Colaiste an Atha, Kilmuckridge.
Malcolm has been named as one of the EU 40 Under 40 Young Leaders and been awarded Dobbin (Canada) and Endeavour (Australia) Scholarships. He has completed over 20 marathons.
Malcolm is a long time campaigner for sustainable planning and development, youth participation in civic life, the arts, adequate policing for rural Ireland, support for equality and human rights as well as investment in education to underpin social and economic progress.
