TD for Dublin Mid West and Spokesperson for National Drug Policy & Urban Affairs

Meet John

Deputy John Curran is the Fianna Fáil TD for the Dublin Mid-West constituency since being re-elected to Dáil Éireann in 2016.

He currently chairs the Employment Affairs and Social Protection Committee which tackles issues around lone parents and the Old Age Pension.

He recently chaired the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness which set out a road map for the government to tackle our current housing crisis and homelessness.

Deputy John Curran was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 2002 where he served on the Public Accounts Committee and the Oireachtas Education Committee.

He was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs with special responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy.

Following a cabinet reshuffle, he was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach with special responsibility as Government Chief Whip.

Prior to becoming a TD he was elected to South Dublin County Council as a councillor in 1999.
