Jason is the Fianna Fáil representative in Ward South – a busy mainly urban ward in the metropolitan area. Cllr Murphy is extremely proud to represent the people of ward south as he was born, brought up and has spent all his adult life in the community.
Cllr Murphy is very aware of the many challenges that affect his community and has been very strong on issues such as housing, health, proper community supports, positive policing and integration. He has built a strong reputation as one of the most accessible councillors in his area and is available to his constituents on a 24/7 basis.
Jason is a regular contributor to local media and is passionate about many of the issues challenging people today, particularly those that deal with isolation and mental health. He has spoken at a number of very well attended seminars on the subject also.
As well as being Chair of the Regional Health Forum and a member of the Southern Assembly, Jason is particularly proud to have been a founder member of the very successful Deise Men’s Shed and the current chair of his local credit union. Cllr Jason Murphy is a passionate, driven and committed representative for all of the people of Ward South and indeed the wider Waterford community.
