Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Health Billy Kelleher has called on the Minister for Health to assure the public that the type of abuses that have been revealed in the case of the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) are not occurring at other agencies in receipt of taxpayer funds through the HSE.

Deputy Kelleher said: “Everyone is rightly sickened and outraged by the further revelations this week at the senior levels of the CRC and there is concern that there is much more to follow.

“Nonetheless it is essential that we have full transparency and that we know the full extent of any other similar activities in any other organisation or agency.  It is imperative that the Minister and the HSE act to ensure that the public is made fully aware of this.

“The issues detailed this week are eroding public confidence and causing huge damage to the charity sector.  It must be remembered that frontline service providers and those in need of these organisations have done nothing wrong whatsoever and should not suffer because of the actions of a few.”

Deputy Kelleher concluded: “The restoration of trust and credibility can only happen when the full extent of what has happened has been revealed.”
