Deirdre has been a local Councillor for 16 years and continues to have the needs of vulnerable people in our society at the core of all my political/public work.
Caring for dementia is an issue that is of major importance to Deirdre and she will campaign to bring about an improved quality of life for people with dementia and their carers, especially the establishment of a national “Dementia Friendly Villages” initiative.
Deirdre has a number of other priorities including equality for women in sport, animal welfare and environmental protection.
Deirdre began her career working for Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta, then took up employment as Parliamentary Assistant and in recent years qualified as a Barrister.
