I was born in 1985 into a farming family with a strong commitment to the local community. I started my education in St. Mary’s N.S Rathowen before moving to secondary school in Loreto College, Mullingar. Graduating from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra as a primary school teacher in 2006 I moved back to Mullingar to take up my first teaching post. I also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Management at NUI Maynooth in 2012. I have a keen interest in sport and physical activity. I am a member of the Clann Gaels Ladies Club, the club registrar and delegate to the Westmeath Ladies County Board. As a Bunbrosna club member I participated in Scór/Scór na nÓg winning an All Ireland title in 2002.

I was co-opted onto Westmeath County Council for the Mullingar West area in May 2012 and successfully contested the 2014 Local Election in the new Kilbeggan/Mullingar LEA. Since my co-option I have endeavoured to represent the interests of my constituents to improve their quality of life. As part of my role as Councillor I am a member of the Transport and Planning Strategic Policy Committee and a member of the Local Community Development Committee. I am also a board member of the Longford/Westmeath Education and Training Board and represent LWETB on the Board of Management of Mullingar Community College. In June 2015, I was given the honour of Deputy Mayor of the Mullingar Municipal District by my fellow Councillors.
I have a huge love for all things community and I have worked with a number of voluntary groups to establish Community Alert Programmes and I am also a member of Rathowen and Ballinalack Tidy Towns Associations. I co-founded “It’s Good 2 Talk Westmeath” an accessible, low cost counseling and psychotherapy services for all members of the community. I hold a number of administrative roles in local voluntary groups such as; secretary of the Mullingar St. Patrick’s Day Committee, and Chairperson of the Rathowen Amateur Dramatic Society.
My professional and political roles allow me to interface with a significant cross section of society on a daily basis. In these capacities, I have gained an understanding of the difficulties and challenges faced by many families.
