People follow jobs and job creation is vital to the long term future of rural Ireland. Delivery of broadband plays a crucial role in this. This should be done sooner rather than later .Too many deadlines have been missed.
Fianna Fáil will introduce a suite of incentives to support existing and new rural businesses. We will also enhance LEADER funding and target infrastructural investment to ensure businesses can set up and thrive in rural Ireland.
Fianna Fáil’s plan to increase rural employment

Implement the National Broadband Plan.
Increase LEADER funding
Increase vital LEADER funding that supports small rural businesses, providing supports across a wide range of areas such as childcare and youth development.
Social protection for the self-employed

Local supports for enterprise
Ensure Enterprise Ireland, Údarás na Gaeltachta and local Enterprise Offices are adequately resourced and funded to support local business people and proactively help them develop through providing financial and mentoring supports.
Increase CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais) funding to secure vital rural infrastructural projects.
Ensure, through a policy of equal opportunity in state employment, that there is a more equitable spread geographically of state employment.
The Co-Op model
Promote the co-operative model as a proven self-help tool for local enterprises, while also enhancing social enterprise opportunities.
