Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Sport Kevin O’Keefe has welcomed an announcement by the Government that it has allocated funding to support Inter County Ladies Football and Camogie players.
The €1m allocation will provide funding for a range of programmes including a joint proposal by the Women’s Gaelic Players Association (WGPA), the Camogie Association and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA).
Deputy O’Keeffe commented, “I believe this funding goes some way to recognising the valuable contribution and commitment that is made by ladies Inter County football and camogie players to our national game.
“The level professionalism and preparation that many of these players to show is remarkable. Hopefully this funding can allow counties to continue to make improvements in areas like training facilities and injury prevention as well as helping maximise player and team performance.
“The allocation of this funding recognises the work of those at the grassroots of these games, who give up their free time and assist in delivering the outstanding success and recognition that both the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and the Camogie Association has enjoyed over the past number of years”.
