Fianna Fail General Election Candidate in Dublin South West, Charlie O’Connor has said that South Dublin County should support local start-up businesses to develop and expand by providing additional enterprise space in our area.

O’Connor was commenting following this month’s meeting of the Tallaght Area Committee where he raised the need to confirm plans for the establishment of new Enterprise Units in the Tallaght region.

It has been proposed that Tallaght Town Centre, the existing Bolbrook Enterprise Centre and the Greenfield site at Grange Castle Business Park will be considered as potential locations for the development of new enterprise space in the county.

As Chairperson of South Dublin County Council’s Economic, Enterprise and Tourism Development Committee, he said, “There has been an increase in demand for new enterprise space in the county as of late and particularly since the economy has picked back up.

“We need to maximise on the opportunities presented in the enterprise sector and support new and existing start-up’s to expand and grow.

“Indigenous business has real potential to contribute to our local economy and creating a vibrant and dynamic environment can help these enterprises to develop. By providing a hub, our Council can help nurture the entrepreneurial spirit that is so essential in our community.

He concluded, “When people take a leap and invest in their innovative ideas in enterprise they should be offered every support to get their business off the ground.”
