Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Justice and Equality, Jim O’ Callaghan has expressed his dismay after human remains were found in a bag on a road in Coolock in north Dublin.

The discovery was made in Moatview Gardens after 10pm on Monday evening and a forensic and technical examination is taking place today.

Deputy O’Callaghan said: “The shocking discovery of human remains in Coolock on Monday evening was made by a number of teenagers in the area. Gardaí have not yet identified the victim, but it is understood that the person died violently.

“I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward and help gardaí identify the victim. The prevalence of violent crime has continued to intensify, and it is essential that all possible resources are provided to protect the public.

“An incident room has been established at Coolock and gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them,” concluded Deputy O’Callaghan.
