O’Brien welcomes Malahide Demesne proposal
Fianna Fáil Senator Darragh O’Brien has warmly welcomed Fingal County Council’s proposal for a Forest Adventure Area in Malahide Demesne.
“This is an impressive proposal by the Council and will be a wonderful amenity for the area. Fingal County Council will shortly commence a public consultation process to gather the public’s views.”
“My colleague Cllr Eoghan O’Brien and myself have been eager to see a development like this for some time. It will greatly enhance the facilities in the Demesne and what is on offer to families.”
According to Fingal County Council’s proposal the Forest Adventure facility will occupy an area of approximately 5 Hectares close to the main car park in the Demesne. It will provide children and adults with an opportunity to climb into and move between the canopies of large mature trees in the woodland in a safe and enjoyable way and will contribute significantly to outdoor amenity in the park.
Senator O’Brien pointed out: “The facility will be designed in a sustainable way to avoid damage to the woodland and will take advantage of existing infrastructure in the park including changing rooms, paths and car parking areas. It really is a well-thought out and planned project and one I’m very happy to support.”
If approved, the Council will seek expressions of interest from suitably experienced operators to assist with the design, development and management of the facility. Income generated by the activity will be used to help fund woodland management projects in the Demesne.
