Fianna Fáil TD Seán Ó Fearghaíl has said he is extremely shocked by last night’s fatal crash in Kildare which claimed the lives of four women and injured three other people, describing it as “a tragedy beyond comprehension for the families and communities affected.”
Deputy Ó Fearghaíl added: “This is a desperate tragedy to befall these families and I can only express my deepest sympathies to them at this difficult time. I know the area where this crash occurred on N78 at Burtown and the community will be utterly shocked to hear this news.
“I want to pay tribute to the dozens of emergency personnel that rushed to the scene of this awful crash last night, who themselves must be devastated by the scene they witnessed and its awful tragic consequences.
“What makes this case all the more horrific is that it comes at a time when families have just had an opportunity to come together and reflect on a year and look ahead to the new year with hope and aspiration. This is an awful reminder of the need for all drivers to be extremely vigilant at all times to avoid a repeat of this type of incident.”
