Donegal Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill has this week written to the Chairperson of An Post Mr. John Fitzgerald requesting that the Post Office in Laghey Village is immediately re-opened.
Senator Ó Domhnaill said: “An Post decided to close the Post Office in Laghey Village very unexpectedly on July 6th last. The local community is now without an adequate postal service.
“It is totally unacceptable that elderly people from within the Laghey catchment area have to travel to Donegal Town to collect their pensions in long queues.
“Over 500 people used Laghey Post Office every week up until its closure and I believe An Post owes it to those customers to provide a full restoration of services as quickly as possible.”
