Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Agriculture, Éamon Ó Cuív TD, has called on the Minister for Agriculture to give a detailed outline of the new CAP deal to the Dáil next week.
Deputy Ó Cuív was reacting to the announcement today by Minister Simon Coveney that agreement has been reached on a new CAP deal.
“With news today that an agreement has been reached for reform of the CAP, it is now imperative that Minister Coveney comes before the Dáil next week and comprehensively outlines the detail of the agreement.
“Following this briefing, I am also calling for a full Dáil debate on the CAP deal and a questions and answers session with the Minister so every farmer throughout the country will be in no doubt as to what the new agreement means for them.
“As with many pieces of legislation, the devil will be in the detail and I look forward to engaging with the Minister on the agreement once it has been published.”
