Written by Alan Dennedy | 16 December 2022

Senator Ollie Crowe has today welcomed that the green light has been given for a dedicated cancer centre in Galway.

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly TD confirmed today that a cancer centre for University Hospital Galway has been included in the HSE Capital Plan.

Commenting on the positive announcement for Galway, Senator Crowe said, "I'm delighted to see that the HSE have included a dedicated cancer centre at University Hospital Galway in their capital plan.

"This is an extremely positive day for Galway and for healthcare in the region. The centre will now go to design stage and is a clear sign of intent from Government.

"Delivering cancer care in Galway is a priority for me and I've been working with my colleague Minister Donnelly on this issue. This centre will serve people from all across Galway and allow them to receive cancer treatment closer to their home."
