Ross failing to deliver on Public Transport Stakeholders Forum commitment – Troy

Published on: 13 March 2018

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport Robert Troy TD has criticised Minister Shane Ross for failing to deliver on his public transport commitments.

Minister Ross previously pledged to establish a multi-stakeholder forum which would include all transport companies, the National Transport Authority, the Department of Transport and worker representatives.

Deputy Troy said, “Minister Ross made a clear commitment in 2016 to establish a Public Transport Stakeholders Forum. The purpose of this forum was to examine the issues facing the public transport sector and to come up with solutions to help develop services in the years ahead. There are huge challenges facing the sector and it’s important that these are aired in a public forum.

“We haven’t heard a word from Minister Ross on this issue in recent times. He has refused to set out a timetable for the establishment of such a forum. He has completely reneged on his commitment and has seriously damaged relations between his Department and workers in the public transport sector.

“It’s not too late for Minister Ross to do the right thing by delivering on a key commitment that he made. He needs to make a statement to clarify his current intentions,” concluded Deputy Troy.
