Response times for ambulance services remain a concern – Smyth

Published on: 19 June 2019

Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Niamh Smyth, has raised the response times for ambulance call outs in Cavan-Monaghan which remains a concern for constituents.

Raising the matter in the Dáil, Deputy Smyth commented, “Ambulance service data clearly demonstrate that the Government is failing abysmally on this issue. On at least two occasions this year it took an ambulance more than 60 minutes to arrive at a life-threatening emergency.

“New figures also show that response target times are not being met in up to 50% of cases throughout the country.

“In my own constituency of Cavan-Monaghan an ambulance took 60 minutes to respond to a fatal incident.

“I have been raising these issues for over 18 months. Despite this it appears the government are doing nothing to help the National Ambulance Service improve their resources and response times,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
