O’Keeffe pays tribute to renowned footballer Ryan McBride

Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Sport Kevin O’Keeffe has paid tribute to Derry City FC footballer Ryan McBride who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 27.

Deputy O’Keeffe said, “I was deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Ryan McBride. He was an exemplary footballer and all round sportsman. His passing comes as a great shock to his family, friends and the wider football community.

“Ryan was a talented footballer who always gave it his best effort while wearing the Derry City FC jersey. He thrilled many spectators with his spectacular performances on the field and it’s well acknowledged that he was just reaching the highlight of his football career. Ryan will be remembered fondly by the entire sporting community and it’s clear that Derry has lost a great leader.

“On behalf of the entire Fianna Fáil organisation, I want to extend our deepest sympathies to Ryan’s family and friends. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dhílis.”
