Ó Fearghaíl Selected as General Election Candidate for Kildare South
14 April 2015
Fianna Fáil Party Whip Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD has tonight been selected to contest the General Election for the Kildare South constituency.
The selection follows an energetic and well attended convention that took place at the Kildare House Hotel with more than 200 party members present.
Addressing the convention, Deputy Ó Fearghaíl commented: “It is an honor to have been selected as the Fianna Fáil candidate to contest the next General Election in Kildare South.
“This election will determine the direction that Ireland takes for years to come. The Irish people will have the chance to pass judgment on a Government that is in office on the basis of false promises and has abandoned even basic principles of fairness.
“Fianna Fáil will not be making any promises that we cannot keep. We will be contesting this election on the basis of a plan that rewards hard work, looks after those who need help, restores fairness to the centre of public policy and learns the lessons of the past.
“We have presented proposals on a wide range of issues. They include substantive political reform measures, proposals to tackle the mortgage arrears crisis and measures to revitalise towns and villages across the country. Fianna Fáil will build on these proposals over the coming months as we outline our manifesto to bring about a more just society in Ireland.
“Unlike those on both the right and the hard left, Fianna Fáil is the only party that wants to create opportunities for all people across our society. I look forward to mounting an energetic campaign over the coming months and bringing the Fianna Fáil message to every doorstep in Kildare South.
Deputy Ó Fearghaíl also paid tribute to Cllr Fiona O’Loughlin, who also put her name forward for selection at tonight’s convention.
“Fiona and I ran energetic and competitive campaigns. The future is certainly bright for the Fianna Fáil organisation in Kildare South. I look forward to working with Fiona over the coming months to spread the Fianna Fáil message to every corner of the constituency” said Deputy Ó Fearghaíl.
