Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan and North Meath, Niamh Smyth, has learned that plans are advanced to have the long-awaited Group Home in Carrickmacross operational during Q4 of this year.

Deputy Smyth commented, “I understand that funding has been secured and opening the facility forms part of the CHO1’s operational plan to utilise new development funding.

“HSE Estates North East have advised CHO1 that Respond Housing have today confirmed the minor works to Carrickmacross Group Home are nearing completion. I believe that the HSE Estates manager is arranging a site visit to review the works, most likely next week, and will confirm the completion date for works at that time.

“This is a much-needed service in the area and it is unacceptable that this state-of-the-art building continues to lie idle, a point I have made numerous times in the Dáil.

“It is paramount that this Group Home for persons with physical and sensory disabilities is progressed without delay, ” she concluded.
