Fianna Fáil’s Education Policy will secure the future for children – Clifford Lee

Fianna Fáil candidate for Dublin Fingal Lorraine Clifford Lee has welcomed the party’s Education policy document – “Securing the Future” – which she maintains will do just that.

“As a parent I am pleased with the plan which focuses on primary and second level, and puts forward an ambitious strategy to restore and enhance the quality of the Irish education system.

“Securing the future for our children – through education – is a pragmatic plan. This policy addresses the areas that require immediate and urgent attention such as overcrowding, assessment and diagnosis for special needs children and programmes aimed at improving educational outcomes for disadvantaged children. These are issues that impact all families – especially in Dublin Fingal where one in five school children are in classes of more than 30 pupils.

“Fianna Fáil is committed to reducing class sizes, reaching an average maximum size of 23 pupils by 2020.  This will be achieved by employing an extra 5,500 teachers. This document offers fresh ideas and understands the importance of education for securing our children’s and our country’s future.”
