Fianna Fáil’s newly appointed Spokesperson on Disability Margaret Murphy O’Mahony has said she will ensure disability issues will be a core priority in the 32nd Dáil.

Deputy Murphy O’Mahony commented, “I am extremely honoured to have been appointed to the Fianna Fáil front bench as the Party’s Spokesperson on Disability. I’ve worked and volunteered extensively in this field and it is an area I am passionate about. I will be a strong advocate for people with disabilities and their families.

‘’Fianna Fáil has a strong record on supporting people with disabilities and I am committed to creating a more inclusive society and working to help dismantle barriers across a range of sectors that prevent people with disabilities from fully participating in society. We need to ensure that people with disabilities are given equality of opportunity so they too can participate in society to the best of their abilities.

“I am looking forward to engaging and working collaboratively with organisations active in the disability sector to pinpoint and address issues across a range of sectors including housing, employment, health, transport or indeed any other issues that they face.

“This is a very energising and challenging role and I am very much looking forward to formulating policies and initiatives that will result in positive and progressive outcomes for people with disabilities and their families,” concluded Deputy Murphy O’Mahony.
