Devlin Elected as Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

Councillor Cormac Devlin has been elected Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

Councillor Devlin (35), was elected by members at their Annual General Meeting on Monday 13th June 2016, he becomes the youngest Cathaoirleach of the county.

Speaking at the AGM, the newly-elected Cathaoirleach outlined his priorities for his term of office, which include tackling the housing crisis, promoting civic engagement and supporting local enterprise throughout the county.

Addressing the council Councillor Devlin said “It is a great honour to be elected as Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown by my fellow councillors. There is a long history and tradition attached to this position and I very much look forward to carrying out my role on behalf of the people of our county over the next twelve months.”

Councillor Devlin is the first Fianna Fáil Cathaoirleach of the county in twelve years. He will be assisted in his duties by Councillor Shay Brennan, who was elected Leas Cathaoirleach.
