Cowen raises concern over proposed care complex in Killeigh

Fianna Fáil TD for Offaly Barry Cowen says he is concerned about proposed plans to develop a new residential care complex at Mill House in Killeenmore.

Deputy Cowen pointed out that there has been no consultation with the local community by Bradbury House, the company which is seeking to develop the complex.

“People living in Killeenmore and Killeigh are alarmed by this proposal. There has been little to no consultation with the local community to date and people simply do not know what the long term plan is for this proposed development,” said Deputy Cowen.

“This proposed development is in a rural setting where there are limited public services such as lighting or pathways. It is hard to see how the area can support the development of an expansive residential care complex. There would need to be significant investment in services in the area before this project can be considered.

“There is an onus on the developers to spell out exactly how they envisage this complex operating on a day to day basis. People need to know how their local community will be affected by the development, should it get the go ahead.”
