Fianna Fáil Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee has welcomed the announcement of funding of €4.5m to 26 Greenway Projects across Ireland

Fingal Coastal Way has been awarded €200,000 and will run for a 21km section from Newbridge Demesne, Donabate to the Fingal county boundary, north of Balbriggan.

Senator Clifford-Lee said: “I very much welcome the announcement made this morning by the Minister for Climate Change, Communications Networks and Transport. The €4.5m funding allocated to fund greenways across the country will be a game changer when it comes to attracting tourism to regions in the coming years.

“Since  COVID-19 began, we have seen a huge surge in the number of people taking up cycling and out enjoying green spaces in Ireland. The greenways will provide a safe space for families across the country to cycle and walk on.

“I am delighted to see funding of €200,000 allocated for Fingal. The Coastal Way will be an excellent amenity for people in the locality. The planned 21km stretch will be hugely beneficial for local businesses in the food and beverage sector when people start to enjoy these projects once completed,”

“This is very welcomes news to all the communities who will receive funding and a positive step forward for more green spaces in the country,” concluded Senator Clifford-Lee.
