Carraig Eden residents will keep their homes – Donnelly

Stephen Donnelly, Fianna Fáil TD for Wicklow and East Carlow has received notice of the sale of Carriag Eden. This agreement will result in the continuation of the services provided by Tiglin at the site.

Following the breakdown of a deal to purchase Carraig Eden earlier this year, Deputy Donnelly worked with Wicklow County Council, the Tiglin team and others to see if a new agreement could be reached. Intensive efforts over the last two weeks have resulted in a deal being reached with IAOG.

The deal reached means that about 30 residents, who had previously been served with eviction notices, will be able to stay in their homes.

Speaking today, Donnelly commented, “I am delighted to see that this very difficult situation has been resolved. The key concern has always been the wellbeing of the residents at Carraig Eden and ensuring that they are not faced with having to find alternative accommodation. The agreement reached between all parties involved means that this situation will not arise as the residents will be able to stay in their homes.

“Tiglin are an amazing organisation who provide a much needed resource not only for Wicklow, but for the entire country. It is my hope that they will be able to maintain the service and grow now that this situation has been resolved.”
