Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Niamh Smyth, has received an update on the new school building for Holy Family School, Cootehill.

Parliamentary question responses issued to Deputy Smyth reveal the new school building will be ready for occupancy in quarter 3 of 2020.

Deputy Smyth commented, “I have been informed by the Minister for Education that the new school building for Holy Family School, Cootehill is set to open by quarter 3 of 2020. I am delighted with this as it now means there is a strong possibility that the school will be ready for occupancy for the new school year in September next.

“I also raised my concerns that the school would not have enough facilities and accommodation for students with special needs. According to the Minister’s reply this has been incorporated into the new build.

“It is vital that works progress on time. Students attending school in the new building in September 2020 has to be the goal. I will continue to keep the pressure on the Minister and his Department to ensure this target is met,” concluded Deputy Smyth.
