Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West, Michael Moynihan has said that he expects progress to be made on the refurbishment works on Millstreet and Kanturk Community Hospitals in 2019.

Deputy Moynihan was commenting after receiving an update from the HSE on the current status of both projects.

“I’ve been informed that the Design Team is currently collating documentation for the planning applications for both hospitals.

“The planning permission application for Kanturk Community Hospital will be lodged at the end of Q4, 2018 with the tender to issue in Q2, 2019. Planning for Millstreet Community Hospital will be applied for in Q1, 2019 with tendering to commence in Q3, 2019.

“I have been working hard to pressure the Government and the HSE to make progress on these projects. Delays were experienced earlier in the process, and we cannot allow any further delays to slow down the works.

“We need to see progress on both projects. Both hospitals are very important local facilities that are relied heavily upon by patients and families alike. The refurbishment works are crucial to ensure a better quality of care for patients, and as the local TD, I will continue to fight for the completion of these works as quickly as possible,” concluded Moynihan.
