Fianna Fáil Spokesperson for Transport Timmy Dooley has called on Minister Paschal Donohoe to urgently intervene in the dispute between drivers and management company, Transdev to avert the planned Luas strikes tomorrow and again next week.

“With 90,000 Luas commuters facing severe disruption it is incredible that the Minister still thinks his only role is as a casual bystander to this dispute rather than as an active arbitrator.

“While drivers pay claims are excessive, it is clear that all channels of communication have completely broken down between Transdev and the drivers.

“Yet the Minister of Transport continues to believe his only role is as an observer. This hands-off strategy has clearly failed, with this dispute rolling on for over a year without any progress.

“As it is probably too late in the day to avert the strike action tomorrow, I am calling on Dublin Bus to have additional services in place to facilitate Luas passengers and to honour all Luas tickets.”
