Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has nominated his colleague and party Finance Spokesperson Michael McGrath TD as the Fianna Fáil representative on the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry.

Deputy Martin commented, “Fianna Fáil have long advocated for a fully independent inquiry into the origins of the banking crisis and we have been disappointed with the Government’s refusal to consider this option.

“However, we are determined to play our full part in the inquiry that has been established. For that reason I am pleased to confirm Deputy Michael McGrath’s nomination as the Fianna Fáil representative on the committee. Michael’s particular skills and experience will ensure that the Fianna Fáil participation will be forensic and informed.

“Michael’s involvement will also ensure that despite the Government’s effort to politicise this process, Fianna Fáil’s focus will be on establishing the full truth of the banking crisis in this country.”
