Pat the Cope Gallagher, MEP for Ireland North and West, today welcomed the ‘uplifting’ announcement by the European Commission to invest over EUR 7 billion into new research projects.


Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP said today, “this is a major announcement by the Irish Commissioner, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn. This EUR 7 billion investment will create over 174,000 jobs in Europe in the short term and almost 450,000 jobs in the long term.”


“Research projects into health, the environment, greener transport, the digital technology, agriculture and fisheries will receive support as a result of today’s announcement.”
