Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin TD has welcomed University College Cork’s progress in the QS World University Rankings.
Deputy Martin said: “UCC is a tremendous university and generates great pride throughout the city and region. The university’s progress up the rankings in this survey is testament to the commitment of academic, management and all staff at the institution. There has been significant investment in UCC over the last decade and it is paying dividends. The establishment of the Tyndall Institute has really helped catapult the UCC onto the world stage.
“I also want to congratulate UCC on being ranked 100th in the world by employers when it comes to the employability of its graduates. The university boasts one of the best campus facilities to live and study in the country.
“The areas measured for the QS survey are extremely important and show how UCC has developed and where the global economy is going. Areas such as quality of research, which has been transformed in recent years, and converting research into products and patents are extremely important in today’s world. UCC is also highly regarded for its medical training and the benefits of a particular focus on nursing and the therapies have played a really important role.
“I want to congratulate Dr. Michael Murphy and his entire team and I wish them well in their ongoing work.”
