Fianna Fáil Leader, Micheál Martin TD, has said the hard work by party members, supporters and elected representatives has resulted in the most successful Superdraw in the Party’s history, raising approximately €600,000 to support the party’s work across the country.
Deputy Martin said: “Our activists and supporters have helped the party surpass expectations for this year’s Superdraw and have made it the most successful ever held by the party. This is an especially impressive achievement in a year when so many people across the country are struggling due to the difficult economic conditions. I want to express my deep thanks to all our members and volunteers across the country who worked tirelessly alongside our Parliamentary Party and Councillors for the last number of months on the Superdraw as well as those who bought tickets to support the party.
“The money raised from the draw will be going to support Fianna Fáil’s work on-the-ground, including campaigning in communities across the country and ensuring there is a strong party platform of new and experienced candidates for the 2014 local elections.
“The success of this year’s Superdraw has been very significant: This year, close to 12,000 tickets were sold. This year’s proceeds increased by close to 20% on last year’s. In addition, our subscriber-base increased significantly this year. This has come at the end of a year where our total funds raised were over €1m, largely through the National SuperDraw and National Collection.”
