Fianna Fáil Leader, Micheál Martin has said that he is deeply saddened at the passing of the former Chair of the RTÉ Board, Tom Savage.
“I’ve known Tom since my election to Dáil Éireann. During his time as an advisor to former Taoiseach, Albert Reynolds, he played a behind the scenes, yet crucial, role in the early years of the Peace Process.
“His understanding and awareness of the Irish media made him an ideal Chair of the RTÉ Board, and it was a role he relished and enjoyed.
“He had an unending love and passion for the art of public relations, which made him one of the most sought after PR advisors in the country for over 40 years.
“A proud Louth man, he remained committed to his community in Cooley despite his career taking him to Dublin.
“I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife Terry, his son Anton, his brother Peter, who serves as a Fianna Fáil Councillor in Co. Louth, his colleagues in RTÉ and in the Communications Clinic.
“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.”
